A community “crafting hub”

The Jolly Makers combines the best aspects of a cafe/bar and a local craft supply shop all in one—it’s a space to unwind, pick up supplies, work on creative projects, and meaningfully connect with others in a welcoming environment. Picture cosy corners for solo crafters, large tables for groups, and lots of inclusive events to create a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Our space will also encourage sustainable living, from eco-friendly materials used in workshops and for sale on the shelves to upcycled furniture and decor, as well as locally sourced alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Why not just a “community hub”?

Why crafting? Because it's way more fun than just hanging out! Crafting taps into the trending “maker movement”, which celebrates creativity, DIY, and sustainability. Plus, since the pandemic, we all need a little help reconnecting. Crafting is a great way to break the ice, build confidence, and tackle the loneliness and anxiety many people feel these days. It’s a shared hobby that naturally brings people together, even more so in a bustling cafe/bar environment.

The Jolly Makers is for anyone looking to get creative while socialising, or looking to socialise while getting creative. Whether you're new to Oxford, want something more than a night at a regular pub, a craft-loving eco-warrior, or someone feeling a bit socially rusty, this space is for you. It's perfect for older folks, too, who want to connect and share or learn skills. Basically, if you love good vibes, crafting, and making new friends, The Jolly Makers is your kind of place!

Who’s the community?
